About the Lieutenancy
Lieutenancy in the Community - Activities and Engagements
The Lord-Lieutenant is keen to support the widest possible range of activity throughout West Sussex and to encourage and celebrate the great diversity of things going on in the county. She is very happy to open new buildings or facilities, or to present appropriate awards and prizes, or to attend appropriate official functions
Another way in which she can sometimes help is by attending a private briefing meeting. This can be particularly helpful for charities or voluntary organisations as it allows them to give her detailed information about their plans, and gives the Lord-lieutenant the opportunity to ask specific questions.
Inviting the Lord-Lieutenant
Because the Lord-Lieutenant’s diary is busy it is not possible for the Lieutenancy to agree to all the requests that are received. Sometimes the Lord-Lieutenant will ask the Vice Lord-Lieutenant or a Deputy Lieutenant to represent her.
If you would like further information please contact the Lieutenancy Officer, Paul Legrave at the earliest opportunity on 01243 777951 or by clicking below. He is very happy to offer advice on the type of event that the Lord-Lieutenant might attend and to offer guidance on the format of a particular event.
Invitations should be sent in good time to the Lord-Lieutenant at the Lieutenancy Office, Edes House, County Hall, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1RQ, or by email to the Lieutenancy Officer.
